Jamie is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher-200 and the yoga director at Renew Wellness. She was trained at the SamYoga Yoga Teacher Training at the Center for Wholeness and is currently in the 500 hour Yoga Therapy program there. Jamie's personal yoga practice has been tremendously healing and transformative for her. Yoga was a practice that was physically challenging but also offered something more—an opportunity to challenge her emotionally and intellectually. The practice led to finding self-acceptance and inner peace. Beyond having a stronger body, Jamie has found that yoga has helped her to increase compassion, let go of judgment and comparison, and live more fully in the moment. Jamie has a strong passion for sharing these benefits of yoga with students. The SamYoga model stresses proper physical alignment as well as integrating physical, energetic, emotional, mental, and spiritual experiences into each class. (These are the five koshas). As a practitioner of Vinyasa yoga, Jamie likes to incorporate flowing movements and controlled breathing into classes while staying true to the philosophy of Samyoga. Jamie's classes will expose you to pranayama (breathing techniques), mantras, mudras, and extended meditative practices as she feels that some of the most healing and beneficial parts of a yoga practice come from these "extra goodies".
